“We shape our homes and then our homes shape us.” - Winston Churchill. | Dorothy Macik's design philosophy resides on the intersection where practical simplicity meets unique style and elegance. “The details are not the details, they make the design.” - Charles Eames | From an early age, Dorothy has always been fascinated by design. She turned a childhood obsession for beautiful rooms and buildings into a degree from UCLA where she studied Art History and Architecture. Today, after nearly a decade in the field as a CID, she has a developed a style that allows her to be a true "full service" interior designer. Her meticulous attention to detail means Dorothy is involved at every stage of the design from drafting plans and specifying materials, all the way to construction and installation. She takes great pride in finding the perfect piece for the space or custom designing the furniture herself. The goal is to ensure nothing is missed and every clients need is met.
"I never design a building before I’ve seen the site and meet the people who will be using it". - Frank Lloyd Wright | Helping people create their own version of the perfect space is what motivates her. She works closely with each client making sure she has all the information to bring their vision to life. It is a process where the client will feel the success of a collaborative effort with Dorothy.
“Create your own style… let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.” - Anna Wintour | Dorothy's inspiration comes from all she's absorbed as a world traveled student of design, sparked by the initial conversation with the client. The result is a beautifully designed space that can be enjoyed for years to come. Her diverse portfolio includes kitchen and bath remodels as well as ground up construction of estates in Bel Air and the Hollywood Hills. On the commercial side she's designed everything from dance studios to office buildings and restaurants. The common denominator with all of these spaces is timeless, livable design.
